Feet are absolutely amazing.
Think about it – we use them all the time, and only think of them when they get sore!
They help us keep our balance. Β They keep us grounded. Β They dance, run, skip, gambol, trot, kick, leap, hop, and sway.
But the really beautiful thing?
They move us forward, one step at a time.
Sometimes recovery can feel like we’ve lost our feet. Β Like we’ve been reduced to crawling on our hands and knees, searching our back-trail for traces of Β the answers that we crave. Β Like we’ve lost the energy or will or desire to limp, let alone dance. Β Like we’ve been thrust into a dastardly pit that sucks us into its despair – that terrifying place where our feet thrash and struggle to find a foothold.
“He lifted me out of the pit of despair; out of the mud and the mire. Β He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. Β Many will see what He has done and be amazed. Β They will put their trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40:2-3 NLT
Walking out of the miry pit – that only happens in God’s strength, with His timing, and His direction. Β What a distinctive honour, a public triumph, a declaration of a powerful and deliciously compassionate God to the world that He is well able to care for His own!
Your feet are beautiful indeed. Β These lowly appendages will help you to take one step at a time, until you slowly but surely are once again standing on solid ground – and those who see it will be blessed by the miracle!
And you know what? Β The lingering traces of the quagmire you just walked through will give them a decidedly gorgeous glow.
In the meantime?
These feet were made for walking.
