Poison Pen

Your verbal parries are to-the-point;

Sharp and cunning, they pierce and wound

on razor’s edge.

Yours is the only way to see,

to process,

to be.

There is no room on this toxic blade

for any movement

other than  for your word’s barb

to shave us all down a notch.

Poison-pen dipped in human ink,

blood-red barbarian with deftly honed rhetoric,

poised to conquer

your little  world.

This beautiful plant is the Ricinus, or Castor Bean.  Distilled, in the form of Ricin, it is a deadly poison, and highly toxic.

Excellent! Could this be one of the reasons why we should learn to think twice, but speak once? Words DO hurt! They cut to the very core of a person! Thanks so much for sharing!

Your diction and imagery is AMAZING!

Ouch! “Poised to conquer YOUR little world” kinda says it, but through gritted teeth, head askance and shoulders back, doesn’t it?!

Wow, serious poison, this plant–and it’s true hurtful words can’t be called back, but isn’t that what Forgiveness is for? Some of us would just just give up speaking, otherwise (moi, among them). God bless you–love, Caddo

So true – all in speech as well as other areas is BALANCE. Awareness of the poison helps – and then, the love that covers a multitude of sins must be worked into the dough as well.

I do have a fair amount of awareness–too many times to count, I’ve heard my mom’s voice/words come out of my mouth–not a pretty thing, I about die of shame. In my favor, I’m generally quick and effusive (and sincere) in my apologies. So if I ever say something wrong to you, I’d appreciate it if you communicated that clearly to me–and then I’ll do my utmost to make amends, I promise! God bless you–love, Caddo (I should probably email you a fuller note on this subject…it will show how conscientious I am.)

Your words only breathe life – so mama can keep her own to herself… funny how what we experienced so long ago tends to leak out at our vulnerable places, huh? (Not funny as in ha ha, either). If and when we leak, grace is always waiting for those who will humble themselves to ask – and will learn and grow in the process. Sounds like you have that part covered! 🙂

Thank you, dear heart–she’s been gone for awhile, but she haunts me, and I’m not being my usual dramatic self…

      • melodylowes says:

When you feel her rise within you, that isn’t a haunting – that is a fresh chance to break the ties that hold your soul fast to her apron strings – a fresh wave of grace just waiting for your free choice to blow her out of the water! God leaves just enough of a reminder so that we don’t forget the Power of Grace and Redemption!! 🙂
