Courage stands when winds deface,
Courage keeps strong roots in place;
Courage dares to hope for more
When circumstances hiss and roar.
At times of pressure, Courage kneels,
At times of trouble, Courage feels;
For Courage knows it holds the keys
To feed a starving world –
Its seeds.
I like that. Courage is a great commodity to keep in good supply.
Thanks Lyle! I so agree.
Wonderful poem about courage, Melody! Thank you! The oak trees here hold onto some of their leaves through winter . .and I’ll think of your poem when I see them!
Resilience in the face of adversity – there’s something very potent about those kinds of images, isn’t there? Thanks Debbie!
This is SO beautiful, Melody!!
Thanks, my friend. I so appreciate the fuel your presence gives my thoughts….
oh boy.. on a wimpy day like today .. I NEEDED this!!! How we can trust Him to be with us… it reminded me of
Isaiah 58:9-11
“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you remove the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness,
And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.
“And the Lord will continually guide you,
And satisfy your desire in scorched places,
And give strength to your bones;
And you will be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
Isaiah is my favourite book – and that is such a great passage – great for those ‘wimpy days’! Thanks Heidi!
Melody, what a gift you have! You fashion words together in such a moving and powerful way. I’m transported every time I read.
Wow – thanks so much! That is truly very humbling – what a thrill to find that the words that mean so much to my own soul ring true for others as well! 🙂
I feel like I am living this poem right now. I love the line courage dares to hope for more when circumstances hiss and roar. Without courage their can never be faith.
Then take heart – when your circumstances look the most bleak, God is working in the dark to shed His light on them! Diamonds are only valuable after their time under extreme heat and pressure..
This is awesome!!
Thank you, Sandra!
