Phase

evening moom

In viewing me, you cannot see the sum of all my parts;

Your eyes can only scan my skin, they can’t discern my heart.

For as the moon in mystery is shrouded from our gaze,

What we observe in others is but one nocturnal phase.

Keep this in mind if others show a less than stellar frame –

Character is more than what one action can proclaim.

As Mistress Moon evolves each night, her beauty ebbs and wanes,

We cannot judge our neighbour’s heart by what his face contains.

Lift

Unless I lift my lowered gaze,

I’ll miss the Beauty in my days –

Remain attached to lowly sod,

Where lowly caterpillars plod.

But if I lift my thoughts above,

Forever seek the path of love,

My heart will rise on golden wings,

Accomplishing much brighter things.

Delicate Detour

I pause

mid-stride,

my to-do list caught

in your delicate detour,

fly to your whimsical web.

Task and master flounder,

round ruffled maze-twists;

forgetfulness steals soft

in lemon-drop swirls.

Weeds will wait.

Urgency evaporates

amidst petalled purity;

here is Now,

here is life alive,

painted to mimic sunshine,

so I pause.

One Small Seed

Not much to look at,

Not much to eat,

Nothing to brag of

When sharing a feat.

No tow’ring forest

With branches to show –

But she’s planting a Now

So her Future can grow.

If we sow a little kindness,

It could feed us all….
