Tearing You Down

It’s time to tear you down. You’ve executed well, and served Purpose faithfully. Erected under inky skies, with window-curtained cheeks stained pink, you covered rawness and hid inadequacy within wooden walls. Your shingles protected from prying eyes and prodding glances, a roof of glass sharper than blade. It’s time to tear you down… You fought…

It’s time to tear you down.

You’ve executed well, and served Purpose faithfully.

Erected under inky skies, with window-curtained cheeks stained pink,

you covered rawness and hid inadequacy

within wooden walls.

Your shingles protected from prying eyes and prodding glances,

a roof of glass sharper than blade.

It’s time to tear you down…

You fought the Big Bad Wolf and the huffing and puffing

and chimney climbing and door knocking

screamed for strong structure.

But now,

you keep the Princess behind bars

and the Prince from the tower

and the Good Genie from granting your wishes.

And your blemishes multiply

in dawning daylight.

So –

I’m tearing you down,

plank by plank,

nail by nail,

gutter by shutter,

until all that’s left

is

me.

THIS REMINDS ME OF THE BURROW! – the house of the Weasleys in the Harry Potter series. Wow, thanks! 😉

I’m so glad you stopped by. Thanks for your encouragement!

Melody, very similar feeling to my last week’s aphorism about approaching life naked. In the end, I think that’s where true spirit and happiness lie. Getting rid of all those fears: breaking down those walls.

It hurts to let go of what protected your nakedness. vulnerability may be beautiful, but it fells like terror.

I bet this house used to look amazing! It still looks good and has a trace of out of this world magic.
And don’t even get me started on your writing, it’s so, so beautiful. You have a very poetical nature, it seems. I wish I was a bit less down to earth 🙂
    Hugs, dear Melody

Don’t you ever apologize for being Petro! You write so freshly with your heart on your sleeve, and seem to connect so well to your readers. Thank you for the compliments – I treasure them deep in my spirit – but don’t sell yourself short for not being like someone else! 🙂

      1. petroneagu

Thank you for your constant support, you’re always on my side 🙂

But of course – you’re perfect just the way you are, after all!

” served Purpose faithfully…” i know that purpose, melody. but i still think you are right to tear it down piece by piece! you will make it!

    1. melodylowes

Thank you, Yun Yi! Again, I drink in your support of my efforts – and it gives me fresh courage!

melody, i am glad you are tearing down the walls, and with them, your defenses. allowing yourself to feel vulnerable, and realize that the Big Bad Wolf has been you all along, is so liberating…

    1. melodylowes

Actually, my wolf was all too real – a story not for telling just yet. Vulnerability has been incredibly dangerous for me – hence the fear in the tearing down! But I am not alone – and in the tearing down, I am finding new freedom. Thanks for stopping by!

    My dear Melody,
I’ve been invited to play a little tagging game and required to tag some friends myself. Since you are one of my closest blogging friends, please see your nomination at http://theseamanmom.blogspot.com/2012/05/lets-get-tagged.html

    Hugs

I just posted a serious one – and want to let it get some readers before I do your fun thingy! So I will wait until this evening to post – don’t worry that I forgot about you, I think it is a fun thing to try. I’ll get it ready in my drafts and after a busy day out I will get back to it later, ok?

      1. petroneagu

No worries, Melody, I did the same when I was notified by the friend that tagged me.
On the other hand there’s no need to feel forced to follow “my lead” if this game is not for you, I totally understand if you’d like to back up.
        Hugs
