You smile to hide your jagged edge; You think pretending is a wedge To cleave your bleeding parts away, Erect a wall from night to day But Smiling with a broken heart Trains your brain in lying art; And once you swallow untruths whole, They sear your mind like burning coal So Admit your blooms…

You smile to hide your jagged edge;

You think pretending is a wedge

To cleave your bleeding parts away,

Erect a wall from night to day

But

Smiling with a broken heart

Trains your brain in lying art;

And once you swallow untruths whole,

They sear your mind like burning coal

So

Admit your blooms are incomplete,

Look long and hard at wound’s defeat;

For when your jagged edge is known,

Your highest self you then can own.

    This one really stimulates and affirms our “truth”–authenticity is healthy and beautiful.

      Authenticity is crucial – authentic church = authentic ministry. There is too much hypocrisy on a grand scale in a lot of segments of our society. And I who have worn my own masks should know…

        Well, masks were “in fashion” for a long time, you know. This week I spoke with my former pastor by phone–we were chatting about this very subject, and he admitted that the church played an active part in furthering the woundedness rather than the healing of many people. But now they’re catching up to speed–slow but sure (I hope). He mentioned a book, “Be Real”–I’ll try to look up the author’s name. See you later! Oh by the by–I have a poem coming up soon, related to this topic.

        Get back to me on that book – sounds like a good one to look up. And I’ll be by to check out your new additions as well!
