Most hide from their
impermanence,
but not you.
You
flaunt your fragility,
exulting in your transitory bloom.
You have but 24 hours
to live and breathe and have your being.
Why bother?
But your smile is so wide it cracks your cheeks
and your giddy capers in the garden
are legendary.
So I will stop
and stare
and inhale your fragrant charm
and marvel at your courage
before I return to my own
impermanence…
Lovely and thought-provoking.
Thank you Lori!
Lovely poem! My day lilies are just stating to bloom this week. Perfect poem you wrote for them and us… ~Wendy
It is a beautiful time to be in the garden, that’s for sure. You’ll have to post some of your pics for me! And a request – do you know the varieties? I like to see named cultivars and order ones I like… 🙂
Your words are always so beautiful, peaceful and loving. Thank you Melody!! 🙂
Wow – I’m glad that’s what you see. Sometimes I feel like I’m trying very hard to find a balance between lamenting and praising! 🙂
Joyful in impermanence–I love this one too!!!
Withering like grass – yet loved and created with purpose!
