Wild garbled call haunts the evening breeze,
Majestic disclosure echoes from trees
And floods lakeshore sunset with accented sound –
Deflected by Sun, notes fall to the ground.

a very long time ago, i went to high school in the Maine Wilderness on the edge of a lake surrounded by mountains. the call of the loon was always magnified by echoes bouncing back and forth – sounds i’ll never forget.
Some things are deep enough to stick with us for a lifetime, aren’t they?
