When your way grows weary, and your heart grows sore,
When your spirit gets bashed onto distant shore,
When you know in your soul you can’t walk anymore,
Rest in Me.
When your feet get splintered by the road you tread,
When the tasks on your list fill your mind with dread,
When you can’t escape rounding the merry-go-sped,
Rest in Me.
This one needs to be set to music – a hymn for today!
Never thought of that – good idea, Ben!
What an inviting bench with words that cause my soul to rest. This is today’s favorite for me as I am a bit nervous, since we start into our home school studies tomorrow… It’s our 11th year but I always get pre-class jitters…

I start back in my classroom, too – new beginnings all around! 🙂
It’s Melody’s take on “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Perfect timing, too.
This time of year seems to bring unique challenges and pressure for a lot of people. We could all use a little grace right about now!
Agreed.
This is such an excellent message, put so prettily in verse. I just came through a time where all I could do was rest in Him–and I learned to see the wisdom in it, rather than wearing myself out further by fighting. It worked out so well that I think I’ll just keep doing it–resting in Him! God bless you abundantly, Melody–love, sis Caddo
What a glorious lesson to earn- takes all the pressure off us in all our striving and confused thrashing! We fight so many things, and only end up tired out with our misguided efforts…
Melody, you wrote “lesson to ‘earn'”–wondering if that is a freudian slip or typo? I dare say some lessons feel like we’ve worked harder than hard to Earn them! as well as “learn”, eh?
Oops – whether Freudian or Melodian, that is indeed a slip… 🙂
Leave it to me to try to make it into something “deeper”, right?! ha ha
Great minds need to know! 🙂
Bless your heart, you made me chuckle!
Was it wicked? Was there any accompanying hand rubbing? *grin*
Not up to “wicked” today–I’ve been slaving over hot clipboard and computer screen, trying to be “brilliant”. I definitely invite your laugh–wicked, or not–here!!
Oh, oh – are we in for a poetic perfect storm?
Oh I SO wish (are we allowed to pray for such things?).
Why not? Are not all good things from above, from the Source of those heavenly lights?
Oh bless you, my Dear! I just needed a bit of confirmation, encouragement! (Shall I pay you in chocolate?)
YES PLEASE!
