The Breakthrough was breathtaking in its

unexpected triumph;

its mysterious arrival threw

Darkness to the curb

in a show of superiority rarely seen

in her years of travail.

She hadn’t known that

Breakthrough, by necessity,

required Breaking;

it was this Brokenness

that had forced her face into

all the corners where

filth of failure

and cobwebs of compromise

had woven their deep magic

over her soul.

And oh, how she fought!

Her marrow resisted the broken pieces

and Denial’s wooing almost won her over;

but here,

on her knees,

she sees the way Through

that the Breaking redeemed.

Her tears rinse the decay

as her soul stirs,

cracks the chrysalis,

and Breaks Through to

dance in the

Light.

An echo of my own heart. I just broke through some barriers…again and as always time on my knees and tears in my heart bring such great light!
Melody, you make me muse! (:

Wow! Music to a teacher’s heart! 🙂 I am finding that those broken places are truly breakthroughs – they just come wearing a different cloak than we would expect!

      1. Glenda Mills

        YES!

  2. Robert Rife

This may well be one of your best so far.

    1. melodylowes

Thanks, Rob! Funny how the ones that are the toughest emotionally to write seem to resonate with others, too… Thank you for allowing yourself to connect to my words.

I have so much to learn about effective blogging. It parallels so much with effective living. The more self-giving and open we are, the more welcoming it is to others and an encouragement to do the same.

      2. melodylowes

Isn’t that odd? It takes being vulnerable to meet someone else’s vulnerability, and to connect – but how hard it is to share out true hearts with the world! But there also needs to be a balance – it isn’t necessarily appropriate to air all of our ‘secrets’ either…

      3. Robert Rife

This is the discernment required of us in all human interactions. Jesus, astute and sensitive to such matters, adjures us at times not to “cast our pearls before swine.” A little overstated perhaps, but the message comes through loud and clear that, in our efforts toward authentic transformation borne of vulnerability and surrender, there are times when restraint will yield the best result.

      4. melodylowes

Well said. Restraint at the right times, coupled with the willingness to share our souls with those we come in contact with – I imagine that if we were truly connected to the Holy Spirit’s promptings, He would steer us into the right balance every time! Ummm – I don’t seem to be there yet…

Nor I, my dear, nor I!

Hope I have a breakthrough soon. I’ve been up to my neck in recipes for our Church cookbook …they forgot to tell me they needed them, and now the deadline is the 15th… so I can’t blog for awhile till I get though all this. Breakthrough… that’s what I need! You hit the nail on the head! When GOD sends abundance, you just won’t be able to keep up with it all…. Love your posts…. I’ll be back when things calm down.

Thanks, Merrill! Deadlines come and go – I have confidence in your ability to pull this new one off! See you soon!

  4. Caddo Veil

Wow, you’re on a roll, Melody–I can barely breathe. Love, Caddo

    1. melodylowes

This one teared me up – I was catching the truth behind the idea as I composed, and it hit me hard! I’m glad you can see it, too…

      1. Caddo Veil

Yes, it’s “something” when that happens–God catches us off guard sometimes–when we’re writing, and when we read another’s revelation. I hope you know my comments aren’t intended to be “dramatic”–when I said I could barely breathe, with this one, I meant it.

      2. melodylowes

Thank you. This one was connected somehow to heaven, I think – it caught me. I think I kept breathing, though… 🙂

      3. Caddo Veil

Good–one of us should probably be breathing at all times!

      4. melodylowes

        Bahaha! You’re so funny…

      5. Caddo Veil

Yep–a one-woman party here!! (except when I’m whispering and hardly breathing, out of reverence)

  5. Debbie

I loved the part of breaking being a part of breakthrough . ..wow, Melody! Beautiful piece of writing, full of His Spirit! God bless you!

    1. melodylowes

Thank you Debbie! I am honored by your words…

  6. gladiuspoeticus

No break through without acceptance.. makes sense.

    1. melodylowes

I think so… Life has an ebb and flow, doesn’t it?

  7. Glenda Mills

Hmm…just revisited this place again. For some reason my iPad brought me here this morning. Have you read any books by Henri Nouwin? Just purchased my first kendle book of his book … The Inner voice of Love…this man touches deep in the chords of my heart..and so do you, Melody!

    1. melodylowes

Thank you so much! I have enjoyed many of his quotes, but have never read an entire work. Thanks for the reminder – I love his perspective. I know I’d love his books!

Nice to see you, Glenda! This is the first time I’ve been able to snatch some time to come by in 2 weeks, so it feels like a reunion almost! 🙂

      1. Glenda Mills

Absolutely! So grateful to connect with you Melody.
