Your lip curls in derision,
contempt for failings twists you.
Your eye gleams,
‘arc de triomphe’;
your tongue trails
your rows of hapless prisoners,
an offering to ego’s altar.
Your gleam blinds you
to your own appetites,
slaves with sweat glistening,
goose-stepping over cells
bound by shackles of steel.
Remove the plank,
and you can see to remove my speck.
Perhaps then,
sliver-free,
we can see
eye to eye.
Ooh, nice one.
Thanks Rob! Happy Thanksgiving weekend to an ex-prairie boy! 🙂
Thank you. We have our Renovare group over every year to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. Then, we have them over again for American Thanksgiving. Why pig out on turkey once when you can do it twice?
ha ha Why indeed? 🙂 Any excuse is a good one when it comes to turkey…
Yooooooooooou betcha. Have a fantastic celebration with loved ones all in the context of gratitude and joy (and colorful food).
Thanks – you too! 🙂
OH. WOW. Packs a powerful punch, what? (Said in the voice of King Pellinore–Camelot)
Complete with accent? Awesome! 🙂
I never know what character I’m going to wake up as, Melody–keeps life more than interesting here!!
*tee hee* Between that and the forgetful factor, you’ve got excitement all sewn up! 🙂
I suspect that when I’m particularly forgetful, my various characters just talk amongst themselves!
Oh, to be a fly on the wall!!
Oh this was a great one and I love how you ended it! 🙂 God bless you!
Thank you very much, Debbie!
This is so good – right on the money!
Thanks Ben! Relating to others can get – rather complicated sometimes…
All this – came from the inspiration of this plant? How is that possible? Again you may wish you could be a fly on the wall – I wish I could be a fly in your brain… or something – that isn’t a good image – but you know what I mean!
I truly hope there are no flies up there… 🙂 The more I do this, the more I think in poetry – and I see images and the sparks fly and the words come. It actually amazes ME, to tell you the truth. It is truly a gift, and one I am receiving so much joy from. The joy is enlarged when others also derive something from what I see and feel – so thank you so much for adding to my experience! 🙂
Always a pleasure, Melody. And, wow, what a gift you have – to think in poetry. Please keep sharing! TTFN

Hey Melody, I have nominated you for the “Food for Thought” award. Check it out here. http://wp.me/p2BmgY-rJ
Thank you Ben! I really appreciate your nomination. Unfortunately due to time constraints I no longer do the ‘award thing’ – but as I said, I appreciate your thinking of me, and the vote of confidence you have given my poetry. I see that I am already acquainted with most of your nominees, but have a few new ones to check out. Thanks again!
I get that – i am new to the blog world and I am trying to figure out how all this works.
In any case – i love you blog – keep up the good work.
Ben
Thanks Ben! Happy writing! 🙂
