Slammed in the deep-freeze,
put on ice and left to dry;
sapless, hopeless, helpless –
until she encounters
the Lord of the Wood.
All winter,
roots have dug in desperation
and found vein.
Hands and heart have swayed in wind
and leaves have leaked,
discarded rainbow offering,
pyrite
cast aside
for something more precious.
Suffering
finds Ore
and as hope oozes,
she’s going for gold…
I’ve always loved the images of mining and of finding “veins”, they’re so tangible when speaking of mystical things. Nice, Melody.
Thanks Rob! And I am finding anew the truth of it, that greater and deeper things come out of our trials, that the lessons learned in the furnace are precious and priceless…
Welcome? No. Priceless? Absolutely. We give thanks IN all things, not always FOR all things.
Suffering finds ore…as hope oozes..So profoundly beautiful. God shares such deep truths with you, Melody. Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of 1 Peter–the Refiners Fire…
I have so often meditated on the truths in that passage, sometimes in utter despair and bitterness – and am finding a new place even this week of purest gold in the ashes of trouble! God is good!
Excellent, excellent–love the imagery and message: we’re not quitting, not settling for less than the Best. God bless you, Melody–love, Caddo
Like very much but who took the risk for picture it?
🙂 It wasn’t too dangerous – the snow is pretty deep, and all I had to do was point and shoot!
Those encounters with “the Lord of the Wood” is vital for constant spiritual growth (I don’t want to be stagnant!). Reminds me of the Scripture, “…from glory to glory”. I was so blessed by this…thanks for sharing.
That passage was in my mind for sure as I wrote – I don’t want to be stagnant, either! Thanks, Daisy!
I love that ending . ..going for the gold! 🙂 You keep inspiring me and helping me along here! God bless you!
🙂 Thank you Debbie!
“As hope oozes, she’s going for gold” Such a poignant image of being desperately determined to “follow hard after God”.in the winters of this earth-life. Thank you.
Thank you Gwen! Sometimes winter ends up giving us invaluable skills in the seeking department! 🙂
