Sing a song of harvest,
A sheaf of golden rye;
Four and twenty blackbirds
Taking to the sky.
Sing a song of plenty,
Of food that’s gathered in;
Heralding the season
That stores so much within.

Oh, I like that! Better than the original 🙂
🙂 Who wants to eat blackbird pie, anyway? Blech…
Too many feathers and tiny bones!
The drumsticks are a little on the stringy side, I would think…. 😦
My cat usually regurgitates them so I think she would agree.
So appropriate for this season.
Thank you! Harvest is such a busy but wonderful time of year…
Another fun rhyme. It has a nursery rhyme feel to it! 🙂
That’s just what I was going for!!!
Beautiful. The title made me chuckle and think of Little House. They used to sing that song on the show. 🙂
🙂 Great memories…
rich words … I am humming along 🙂
Great! (I think I can hear you…) 🙂
“We will come rejoicing…” I couldn’t help it, the hymn started playing in my mind before I got to the nursery rhyme! God bless you BIG–love, Caddo
Do hymns mix with Nursery Rhymes? 😉
Why not? We’re all His children!
Loved how you re-jigged the rhyme Melody. And I’m started to gather the food for winter too, as I don’t fancy going out to shop every 5 minutes. Can you please pass the plate of blackbird pie? 🙂
HA! I stocked up yesterday on an abundance of goodies for our Thanksgiving meal next weekend – my son is coming home from University! Yippee! I don’t imagine he will leave me enough leftovers to last the winter, though…. 😉
well well Melody ~ feelings are multidirectional ~The field is white and ready to harvest! You’ve written the Gospel in verse! Gorgeous !
Thanks Debbie! Next weekend is our Canadian version of Thanksgiving, and there is much to be thankful for…
I’m going to steal your pen, so that I can pen words like this again.
Go for it! 😉
