The Gleaning

When your shoulders, bending low beneath their heavy load, Bow defeated with the weight of what your day’s bestowed, Lift your eyes above the waves, set down your raging fears ; Pregnant with a harvest-hope, your gleaning time appears. ************************************************************ Canary seed soon to be gleaned…

Once again, you’re able to capture in imagery the essence of your poetry. Beautiful!

I’m not sure that you can! Except that thankfully, our local ‘canaries’ have flown the coop for warmer places by this time of year, so maybe all is well? 😉

Everyone’s backbone could use a little shoring up, now and then… Thanks Debbie!

I’ve never seen this grain before. How beautiful – image AND words!

It’s a relatively new crop to the Canadian prairies. It is incredibly ITCHY to work with – anyone with allergies simply can’t grow it. It can be incredibly profitable, though – ironic, since it is literally grown to feed pet birds, and is often worth much more than wheat, which feeds people. Hmmm…. Thanks Pam!

      1. Pam

well then – I’d better stay out of the growing fields with my allergies… interesting about the value of the crop – go figure!

Ah, the laws of supply and demand…. strange, for sure.
