Delicate Detour

I pause

mid-stride,

my to-do list caught

in your delicate detour,

fly to your whimsical web.

Task and master flounder,

round ruffled maze-twists;

forgetfulness steals soft

in lemon-drop swirls.

Weeds will wait.

Urgency evaporates

amidst petalled purity;

here is Now,

here is life alive,

painted to mimic sunshine,

so I pause.

She Forgot Again

She set his plate,

and then replaced it

in the cupboard

next to the crystal stem-ware,

coldly cut in geometric shapes

reflecting her loss

in infinite variations

on the kitchen floor.

Forgive me.

I so often forget

that Light is but a

prayer away;

I bump around

clumsy

feeling my way

in so dark a place,

and I forget

that this journey

is not mine

to run the gauntlet

solitary,

but

Illuminated…

When Absent-minded Fairies Come to Call

As the Frost Fairies frolicked

distracted them, humans will never discover –

but their magical Frost Wand  was never recovered!
