A Beautiful Letdown

fallen

A season of growth

Lies discarded on the ground

Beautiful letdown

Surprise

frosty-fence

frost feeds on fear

freezes future fortunes

dishes up death on a silver platter

wouldn’t it be shocked to know

when we are flash-frozen

we grow glorious?

Ambivalence

Jan Lake Rainstorm2

Curious, this inner clash

Where dark and light reside.

Storm and calm, hurt and balm

Irresolute inside.

Settled chaos, doubt’s resolve,

Sinner’s brawl with saint;

Weak and strong in tuneless song,

Liberty’s restraint.

The Friday Called Good

hairysnow.jpg

Which of me is real,

and which is the hoax?

Lies parading as truth,

nightmares pretending to be certain,

make down look high

and sky resemble grave.

Just such a grave once swallowed the Truth,

spat on Hope,

beat Justice into submission;

my fists flailed Saviour,

my arrogance gripped hammer.

As Dark grew blacker still,

Light split its circumference,

and the worst Friday in history

became

Good.

Morning

foggysunrise.jpg

As dawn burns away fog,

so Your light burns me –

pride,

arrogance,

deceit,

all melt in Your gaze.

Obscurity

and Denial

are no match for Your rays;

they squirm

and justify

but are undone like morning mist.

So rise,

Morning Star,

Your radiance

is welcome

to live here,

in my dark places,

where night has reigned too long.

Rise

and shine

and

paint me daybreak,

colour me rainbow,

and call me

Morning…
