Lady of the Lake

backlit loon

Her cries, aloft on watery wing,

Haunt by night on eastern shore;

Count the deeds of beast and king,

Chronicle the songs of yore.

Trembling on the edge of stars,

Notes that quaver, full of ache,

Melt with sadness, name her scars,

Loonlight, Lady of the Lake.

Fiery Illusion

Fiery illusion,

Simmering delusion,

Charring evening lake with liquid rage;

Blazing, scorching pyre,

Combustible night fire,

Turning day to night on scalded page.
