Christmas Sun

saskatoon hoarfrost sunset

Christmas sun has come and gone,

Day of peace and holy cheer;

Divine chose us to carry on,

Keep Christmas light alive all year.

Bare

Bare,

stripped down,

denuded.

I am as I was born,

naked before Your eyes.

No fake smile,

no mask.

No last-ditch attempt at impressing,

for You know what I am –

broken,

scarred,

warped.

My defences are useless.

I quiver before Your thoughtful gaze.

Shame lowers my eyes,

makes me blush to my roots.

Your scrutiny never wavers.

Nothing You see surprises

or sickens.

Wounds can’t make you blanch,

welts have no power to revolt.

Rather,

when I dare to steal a peek,

I discern something new.

Is it – pride?

Admiration?

Longing.

Loving.

Accepting.

Sobs shake me,

autumn rains to wash away

former visions,

mirror images.

All that is left is –

me.

And

You say

I am enough.

Bare…

Faith

Bedrock beneath my wobbly feet,

Traction when path is soaked with sleet,

Shelter when baked by merciless heat,

Faith will point the way.

Shield for enemy darts that fly,

Defender when negative thoughts flit by,

Haven when struggles demand the why,

Faith redeems the day.

Let Bleeding Hearts of the World Unite!

Let bleeding hearts of the world unite!

Drenched in sorrow,

only those whose

hearts have been shredded

dare apply.

Deep calls to deep,

affliction meets misery,

grief grows rapport

like a second skin,

fitted like misfortune’s glove.

Heartache’s brine

seasons souls scrupulously

and breeds empathy

that is released,

spores of mercy,

descending like dew

on bleeding hearts of the world.

Let them all unite!

Cast Fear Aside

Cast fear aside;

My beams are strong,

My stance is sure.

Coil your heart

Around my Substance –

I Am.

Strong,

Sure,

True,

Right.

You cannot go wrong

In bending to My form,

Clinging to My ways,

Adapting to My structure.

I Am,

And you are not –

So cast fear aside,

And grow beautiful with Me…
