As Majestic as Mountains

Is there anything on earth as majestic as mountains?

The Canadian Rockies are world-renown for their beauty.  People flock to them like moths to a porch light.  Hikers, skiers, campers, paddlers of kayaks and canoes,  relaxers and revellers, all congregate to gawk in unrestrained delight at these hunks of rock and rubble.

Tons upon billions of tons of granite are aligned in the range comprising the magnificent Rockies, which stretch for thousands of miles, creating a barrier powerful enough to create new climatic conditions on either side.

“Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?” Isaiah 40:12b NLT

Who, indeed?

The thought of this God, enthroned in jewelled light, weighing the mountains on a scale – well, that rather puts things  into perspective, doesn’t it?

And that thought is beautiful, as majestic as mountains…

  1. I agree. The beauty of the mountains draws me in. I could sit and just stare at their raw power yet, they are still so graceful. I have always wanted to visit your area of Canada. It’s on my bucket list!

You won’t be disappointed! There are lots of places to go to get inspired by these still, wise, overwhelmingly powerful heaps of old rock! I can’t help but love ’em! Come on up! 🙂

I’ve always wanted to travel from Colorado to Alaska, up the spine of the Rockies, through Banff, Jasper, and Yoho. Sadly, I haven’t been able to make it happen yet, and, less sadly, I’ve discovered a few areas of my own back yard that I’d been neglecting, which should keep me busy for a while.

I was born in Denver, and, while I don’t remember it, I was about a week old the first time I crossed the Continental Divide. My family moved east a few years later, and my first memories include the Rocky Mountains, but only very few of them. But … I’ve been a lover of mountains all my life.

I have to agree that nothing is as majestic as a mountain. And I love the way you’ve described the northern Rockies. It strikes a very deep chord.

The Denver area is so beautiful! Loved rocky Mountain NP – there were such beautiful wildflowers on top of he ridges up there. I’m a mountain fan, though, so just the sight of their tippy-tops as we drive closer usually puts a big smile on my face!
