A helmet to protect your head,
a shield defending tender heart,
chain-mail forged of heavy lead
so body won’t get torn apart.
Gauntlets of the finest steel,
boots so blows cannot get through;
but what on earth can form a seal
if what you’re fighting off
Oh Wow, Oh WOW. (no other words find voice)
You must have fought those inner demons, too, hmmm??
Mmhmm–and occasionally one or two, or three sneak back. I don’t know if this will be useful to you, but earlier in the year, I bought a rubber mallet–8 oz or something, not too cumbersome to wield but substantial heft–it’s my “official Caddo-approved devil whacker”. And that is exactly what I use it for–it’s always within easy sight/reach. Last Sunday, I pounded him flat as a pancake when he brought up a past issue–and as you whack, you have to be very vocal: “Take that, whack-whack–in Jesus Name!!” Sounds silly, probably–but the flip side of silly Caddo packs a solid punch, I dare say.
Sounds like excellent whacking protocol to me – I may just have to try it! 🙂 By the way, love my visual as I picture you modeling the whacking… 😀
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and are in the midst of a great Thanksgiving weekend!
I’m a neighbour north of the border, so our Thanksgiving is long gone – but I don’t mind joining my American neighbours for an extra dose of thankfulness (and any excuse is a good excuse for a good meal, right?) 🙂 Thanks Russel!
This is so insightful and true, Melody! I love Caddo’s devil whacker idea! God bless you as you write what we need to deal with!
Thank you Debbie. There is so much to learn…. Writing is such a great way to process what we learn!!
I’m guessing you relate? 🙂
I think so much so that I had no words! It was deep one; I loved it.
Thank you so much…
