Tender Stalk

Tender stalk, the time has come

to stand alone against the winds

that howl and seek to beat a drum

to dictate what your heart rescinds;

frailty, stand strong and true,

though wind blow cold, and night bleed blue.

      PS–the last 2 lines have the feel of a Commando Caddo battle cry. We ARE Victorious–Overcomers with Holy can-do Spirit!! (I’ll settle down now and eat a turkey sandwich…)

      Thank you, Caddo! I guess we all have tender bits – some more than others, depending on where we’re at in our journey.

    Only the perspective of a cold SK wind gives the full perspective of the metaphor. Nicely done. I continue to be amazed at how many poems you produce.

      🙂 I guess finding my voice at midlife means I spill words all over the place! There seems to be a lot to say… I always wonder if it will dry up once I’ve had my say, so I write while the words are in my head just in case they stop one day!
