We’re Snowed In, Love

We’re snowed in, love, the world is white, mistakes are drifted in tonight; our slate is cleaned, the past is dressed in whitewashed grace – so be at rest. Blunders wear refinement’s shawl, faux pas flaunt finesse, as all our errors lie beneath the snow; let’s start again, and let yore go…

Snowed in bistro

We’re snowed in, love, the world is white,

mistakes are drifted in tonight;

our slate is cleaned, the past is dressed

in whitewashed grace – so be at rest.

Blunders wear refinement’s shawl,

faux pas flaunt finesse, as all

our errors lie beneath the snow;

let’s start again, and let yore go…

    Beautiful, Melody! I love grace and the fresh start it gives us.

      Cold as it is, that’s what I see in the snow – it covers all the yucky stuff. (Temporarily, anyway…)

  3. lylekrahn

    Snow as whitewashed grace – that’s good imagery and turn of phrase.

      Thanks Lyle! (It works as long as the traffic doesn’t chew it up and make it yucky. And no salt trucks allowed. And if it melts and turns to slush – ah, well. An image only goes so far, right?) 🙂

        And that’s why it snows again (at least this year)

  4. RoSy

    You described that so well. I know what you mean (At least – I think I do). 🙂

      Whatever you think it is, it is. That’s the beauty of poetry, right? We read into it whatever is going on in our lives at the time – one size fits all!

    Way-Wow-Wonderful, Melody!! I love this so much. The line beginning with “blunders” may be my fave, but it’s awfully hard to choose today.

      Thanks! I love the way God gives us lots of ways to start fresh – snowfalls, New Year’s, weeks, days, months – all speak to our ability to choose afresh.
