Dates and calendars herald Spring’s approach.

She knows it will come –

she believes in the Oracle

who promised Winter’s demise.

But knowing

and believing

leave her cold today,

in the shivering places

where soul must hang in the tense balance

between what is and what will be.

Reality is,

while her rescue is certain,

her ‘now’ is cold,

her present wrapped up in ice.

She must find a way

to keep her hope warm

until she can sing

Winter’s dirge…

This north wind doesn’t know when to quit! Soon, soon, soon…

It seems Spring is in troubles all around the world. She’s a bit lazy this year, maybe she should take some vitamins or something to increase her immune system 🙂 Hang in there, it’s getting close. I hope 🙂

hehe I love that idea of spring taking some vitamins – I think I’ll have to write a poem about that! 🙂

As we all must, for the skies are gray and a chill walks the earth. 🙂

The metaphor runs deeper than spring, doesn’t it? Yes, the battle rages…

As long as winter lingers, you have a constant source of inspiration – do you believe the oracle? I like that photo but I don’t know what I’m looking at.

It’s an orb hanging on the archway to my garden – a gift from a student years ago. It slides up and down the ‘augured’ wire it sits on as the wind gets hold of it – very pretty!

I am loving this and feeling it too, that difficult time when the ‘now’ is cold. Thank you for helping us through this weak spring time!

Life tosses so much that is cold at us – it is well to practice these skills, holding on to hope, when we face things that freeze our spirits..

    You just described me! 😆

      🙂 Uncanny, huh?

This is SO excellent, Mel–speaks to where I was lately. It’s hard to hold oppositional perceptions and keep one’s balance–my heart (where Jesus lives) believed and knew that the ship would yet sail, victory flag waving (and new paint, etc); but my feelings were: “let’s just die and get it over with, ‘kay?” And so we must Choose to STAND (even while slumping on the couch, refusing to cry or eat–I know, hard to believe).

I so hear you on that – it is our broken places which cry uot for relief that pull counter-clockwise to our better selves – yes, it is a choice, but sometimes the choice is pretty dang tough…

      1. jaels

Very dang tough, which is why I was welded to my couch for however long it was…good grief and 4/5ths.

        Yikes and 7/8ths!
