O murky depths,
you mesmerize;
you pull me places
I despise.
Your vortex calls,
compelling sound –
but if I choose,
I need not drown.
Your siren song
is but a lie,
a quick-fix hoax,
a warring cry.
You seek to drag
me to my grave;
I will not bow,
or be your slave.
Fascinating photo.
Thanks! It shows the culvert that runs through the highway near our place, taking the spring run-off to the lake. When the water rises fast, as it did this year, the culvert is swamped, and creates this slurping, gurgling vortex. The sound effects would have added a lot to the poem! 🙂
Most exciting.
A big part of the cycle of life around here!
Maybe a sound poem is in the making sometime. I am just feeling very pleased with myself because I managed to embed a Youtube clip in my post. Next step may be my own little video; that’s a big MAYBE.
I’ve been considering a vlog post… I wonder? Go for it!
You too 🙂
I agree, great photo–and sometimes we do get sucked down (there will be a mention about that in my upcoming testimony).
The gurgling and slurping noises would have been a great addition to this post – very sobering!
Oh, I don’t know if I could have stood sound effects, Mel–it was bad enough.
Very sobering, thinking of being drawn in and sucked through that long cold culvert… Let’s think about other things, shall we? 🙂
Yeah, like food?
😀 That sounds MUCH better..
I’m heating up beef and barley/veg soup–it turned out very well!
Yum!
Excellent! I enjoyed the poem and its message.
