Small progress, to be sure,

overlooked by all casual observers,

but don’t miss its significance. It is

profundity in prose,

a missive spelling out

constitutional reform,

 emancipation of slaves. It is

a palette of life to starving artists,

Monet painting van Gogh

in the round.

A Master Chef’s confection

to a parched refugee,

it teases taste buds

and tastes of freedom. It is

story choreographed,

bringing tears unbidden in

 a dark theater,

goosebumps on arms

beneath evening dress.

Beethoven’s ears opening to

Moonlight Sonata

for the first time

and dancing with the pulse of

a thousand known notes

are contained in its single song.

Galaxies are formed in its confinement,

hope carved in foliar flare;

life lives here.

See it

with

new eyes.

Taste it.

Feel it in the way your chest moves in and out,

how your brow contracts in the thinking.

Small progress, to be sure –

but don’t .

Miss.

Its.

Significance.

Even without the photograph, we’d still be transported to this beautiful nature. Its beautiful how the words and the pixels compliment each other.

    1. melodylowes

Thanks! I almost always write with the image in front of me for inspiration, so that would explain how they fit together. I may need to write a poem about words and pixels… 🙂

  7. I HAVE A VOICE

    unbelievable beauty and depth!

    1. melodylowes

🙂 Thank you so much! There is so much to inspire us in the regenerating power of springtime…

A breathless view of an amazing miracle viewed up close and from the edge of the universe. I enjoyed this one too!
    Russ

It IS an amazing miracle – how do these plants survive our brutal winters, and grow as soon as there is sunshine? I love the hope in this annual rebirth. Thanks Russ!

  9. tiny lessons blog

Lovely! Such a beautiful ode to spring! SEE the little things.

    1. melodylowes

I think I must miss so much – and I only have one go – I don’t want to miss anything! 🙂

  10. Heidi Viars

marvelous how you can capture these tiny things in nature and relay a huge message …

    1. melodylowes

I am learning to see things differently as I open my eyes in new ways – it has been a significant shift in my thinking, and a lot of fun, too!

  11. lylekrahn

You really cranked this one up a notch. It must have been the photo.

    1. melodylowes

🙂 Thanks Lyle! I still need to look for the green, the signs of growth – and have to remind myself that I need to give myself slack where my own personal growth comes in, too – hence the mini-lesson…

      1. lylekrahn

Well that makes two of us.

      2. melodylowes

So it’s more than just me? I find I need a lot of reminders. I’d staple them to my forehead but the staples would clash with my fashionista… 🙂

      3. lylekrahn

        That’s funny.

  12. Seyi sandra
