By the Sweat of Her Brow

By the sweat of her brow, she has raised them – three strapping sons to block out their  father’s deadbeat shadow. And the tender concern with which they plant  kisses on hope-spattered cheeks paints each drop of perspiration  a work of art.

By the sweat of her brow,

she has raised them –

three strapping sons

to block out their

father’s deadbeat shadow.

And the tender concern

with which they plant

kisses on hope-spattered

cheeks paints each

drop of perspiration

a work of art.

      Thank you, Orchid! 🙂

Beautiful. How lovely to think that each drop of perspiration can become a work of art.

I hadn’t thought of it like that before, either – then when I imagined her being a single mom, I suddenly saw that connection. Makes my perspiration a little more tolerable… 😀

Perspiration can be a good thing despite what the advertisers tell us to the contrary!

Wow, what a testament to a mothers love!

I would like to toast all those single mothers out there, who work so hard to create a good life for their children, despite their pain and obstacles.

        Amen!

Wow, this goes straight to the heart’s marrow.

I have a lot of respect for these single mamas!

Some are truly amazing–too bad we usually hear the ugly stories. Why does bad news “sell”??

      2. melodylowes

Isn’t that rotten? I’d tune in to the news more if it were balanced with some of the truly remarkable humans out there…

I rarely watch the news, it makes me too crazy (ier). Guess that’s why I like Readers Digest mag, and blogging (most days). We get to interact with truly remarkable folks daily here (I’m including you and moi)–which makes me want to get in the kitchen and start cooking/baking for another Caddo Buffet. What are you hungry for, cher?

Louisiana frog legs? I’ve never had ’em – and would love to try! 😉

I could picture the tender moment as I read your words…beautiful.
