The Offer

lavender clematis

Delicate her solemn smile,

Lavender her dreams;

Beneath her skin she hides the pain

That tears apart her seams.

So when you judge her every move

And criticize her ways,

Keep in mind how far she’s come,

And offer her your grace.

Transformation

frosty spruce

Just as frost makes pearls from pain and covers plain with glory,

So your faith can glean the grain within your painful story;

When you feel the pinch of frost, the sting of cold rejection,

Know one day when it has lost, you’ll be a grace confection.

Wrinkles

apricot daylily

Her heart of hearts records the pain,

Places where deep scars remain;

Damaged tissues bear the strain,

Warped and twisted soul.

Kissed by Light, and coaxed by rain,

Wounded places bloom again,

Every scar croons fresh refrain –

Wrinkles make her whole.

The Covering

frost crystals

She wrapped her naked soul in frost,

Afraid of being known;

But hiding came at bitter cost –

This skin was not her own.

She lost connection to her core

As frozen walls were raised;

The warmth of Love could melt, restore,

So she could live unglazed.

Laundry

You made this bed of nails I lie in.

A skewered butterfly,

addition to your

collection,

I swallowed hook, line, and linen.

But this is 2016.

It’s time

to change

the sheets.

Sleeping Beauty

baby iris

Long has she lain,

poisoned by an apple

that should never have reached Eden.

The kiss, when it comes,

stirs,

wispy, a dream that eludes

upon rising;

it revives the tender recollection

that she waits,

not for an awakening,

but for a

Resurrection.
