The Offer

lavender clematis

Delicate her solemn smile,

Lavender her dreams;

Beneath her skin she hides the pain

That tears apart her seams.

So when you judge her every move

And criticize her ways,

Keep in mind how far she’s come,

And offer her your grace.

Transformation

frosty spruce

Just as frost makes pearls from pain and covers plain with glory,

So your faith can glean the grain within your painful story;

When you feel the pinch of frost, the sting of cold rejection,

Know one day when it has lost, you’ll be a grace confection.

The Beauty in the Mess

ruffles macro

Within each crease, beneath each scar, and etched in every vein

Her petals form a tale alive with hope carved out of pain;

Though deeply marred, disfigured, torn, her beauty proves to me

The choice to bloom despite her wounds is what has set her free.

I read within imperfect folds a novel penned by grace,

For harshest hurts transformed, redeemed, become the very place

Where subtle hues and fragile scent, those glories forged by stress,

Release our truest, highest self – the beauty in the mess.

The Road Not Taken

road less taken

I stopped today beside the road

that I had never taken;

I gazed along those verdant slopes

at what I had forsaken.

My broken spots pulled hard toward

‘what ifs’ and ‘might have beens’ –

My heart was caught and hung upon

the fence where doubt begins.

I cannot walk along that path,

my choices barred its entry;

I’ll never know its final trail,

so Grace will be its sentry.

One Small Seed

Not much to look at,

Not much to eat,

Nothing to brag of

When sharing a feat.

No tow’ring forest

With branches to show –

But she’s planting a Now

So her Future can grow.
