I Stand Alone

I stand alone; I am an island. I see nothing, feel nothing, need nothing. I am the last of my breed, an icon; I stand alone. Unless – you want to stand with me?

I stand alone;

I am an island.

I see nothing,

feel nothing,

need nothing.

I am the last of my breed,

an icon;

I stand alone.

Unless –

you want to stand with me?

A beautiful and positive poem. I like the ending a lot. Need to open a door for friendship and opportunity.

      Right! Thank you… 🙂

Good morning, Melody. Lovely and true poem. Blessings always, Ellen

Good morning, Ellen! Thank you! 🙂

In the spiritual life, our “I” is so because of the “we.” They contextualize and give meaning to each other. Sociologist Martin Buber describes it as the “I/Thou” relationship from which we find strength, purpose, and identity.

Cool synopsis. I didn’t even need a dictionary this time! 🙂 ha ha

        What’s a…dixshunnairee?

      2. melodylowes

i dunno. ( I think it’s a big book to help me understand your big high-falutin’ words!) 🙂

      3. Robert Rife

You’re being punctiliously vituperative of my overwrought verbosity.

      4. melodylowes

I’m wha? lol You crack me up. 🙂 I’d say it differently but I don’t know any other words than those… 🙂

      5. Robert Rife

Your words are perfect the way they are. Don’t change ’em for my self-important lexical presumptions.

Ahh yes–and yes I do want to!! love, Caddo

    1. melodylowes

Aw, how sweet. standing with someone feels much less like lonely, doesn’t it?

      1. Caddo Veil

Oddly enough, I seldom feel lonely–God’s gift of creative imagination keeps my head pretty crowded with folks–good thing I’m not expected to cook for them! But yes, in the real world, it’s nice to stand next to someone.

Lovely, Melody. Even the most independent people around need to touch shoulders with others once in awhile.

    1. melodylowes

So true! We do need independence – but also need to know when and who to lean on. A tricky balance!

    Love this! Whimsical, yet profound?!

    1. melodylowes

Thank you! 🙂 I was attempting to play around a bit with conventions – glad you caught the shades and subtleties!

We all share the same eternal breath, we share the same spirit, we share His touch of love and we are united as one in life…you are never alone. Beautiful poem my sister!

    1. melodylowes

That is one truth that has stood me on solid ground many a time….thank you Wendell!
