Forest hovers, dark and deep,
Canopy of scented leaves;
Overhead, the tree in sleep
Provides a roof with icy eaves.
Loathe to stir from homey den,
Heart clings tightly to this view;
Frosty boughs, in peaceful glen,
Bathed with heaven’s frosted dew.
A beautiful scene especially when seen from my warm kitchen on a summer night
Oh, sure…. π I bet it feels a little remote under those conditions, right?
Beautiful pic! Made me shiver! You are MY poetess of the year, whether you accept the prize or not, which consists of the following: 1. Bundle up. 2. Put on those snow boots. 3. Quickly exit the back door. 4. Breathe. 5. Stare in wonder. 6. Dream. 7. Create. 8. Each day start at number 1. π Eric
I’ve taken copious notes, and am ready for the challenge! π
Melody, this is breathtakingly drop dead gorgeous! Your poem and picture together are an award winning Christmas card!! You are blessed to have such awesome scenery…and talent!
Blessings ~ Wendy
Aw, thanks Wendy! I am blessed – I am walking though this winter wonderland with eyes wide open, to catch the wonder of it all!
I love the poem, Melody–and the photo looks prize-worthy, surely for a lovely Christmas card and calendar!!
Thank you! The scene was definitely prize-worthy – a wonder-wow in a box!
You know I love all your photos and words, but sometimes one will especially grab me–this one was very easy for me to step right into, a chilly but lovely escape. Kinda makes me want to work on my novel–that kind of “magical and evocative”….
Thanks sweet Caddo…
AMAZING photo, and poem to go along with it! I was so blessed by both! I can see in you the master Creator… what a gift He has shared with you, Melody! All praise & glory to Him π
Yes, Daisy, you have that so right – all good gifts are from above. I can’t tell you how much delight I am experiencing in discovering this gift!! I am awed and humbled – and will use it for His purposes!
I know you will, Melody,… and as you do, we are blessed. That’s the beautiful thing about the body of Christ. π
So gorgeous, both photo and poem .. .and the poem’s flow was so perfect! Wonderful winter blessings for us! Thank you!
Thanks Debbie!! π
Love the textures!
I am wanting a super duper professional photographer’s equipment this week – the textures of the various frosts are so amazingly intricate! You can’t help but worship a Being who can design a million kinds of snow… π
Absolutely gorgeous! π
Thanks Sheryl!!
