Silver-Spun Cells

Silver-spun cells of gossamer thought, threaded on breeze-blossoms, skilfully wrought; whispers of whirlwind,  fairy-frost food, share your sweet secret – how do you stay glued? Delicate membranes with hearts on your sleeve, barely there brainstorm, a brittle-crisp weave – filmy exquisite, in raiment of lace, what holds you together while running your race? * How…

Silver-spun cells of gossamer thought,

threaded on breeze-blossoms, skilfully wrought;

whispers of whirlwind,  fairy-frost food,

share your sweet secret – how do you stay glued?

Delicate membranes with hearts on your sleeve,

barely there brainstorm, a brittle-crisp weave –

filmy exquisite, in raiment of lace,

what holds you together while running your race?

How ironic that such beauty is to be found in the weak places…can it be that we, in our humanity, in our very fragility, are beautiful?

I think that could be so.

      Great minds think alike?? 🙂

      1. Gallivanta

        Without a doubt!

  2. tinamhunt

    amazingly, wonderfully, yes.

      Thanks Tina! 🙂

I’ve always said that beauty comes at a price. It is often encased in great danger as in an icy winter or rumbling volcano. There is an insidious nature to the beauty of which we only ever see the face.

    1. melodylowes

How I look forward to the day when the insidious is stripped away, and all that is left is the beauty in its purest form…

      1. Robert Rife

Agreed. When beauty and truth finally kiss in full embrace and eternal unity wins out over fractured time and space.

      2. melodylowes

Rather poetic. Have you ever tried your hand at poetry? 🙂

      3. Robert Rife

        Yea, you’re real funny…haha!

  4. Debbie

I love your thoughts about this and agree! There is something very beautiful in vulnerability. Now, just to remember that! Thanks Melody!

      Yes, Ma’am! 🙂

In most fragile is found steel’s strength; swift spider runs her light web’s length, testimony to her Creator… 🙂 Eric

I just read that hummingbirds weave their nests out of spider\s webs – so delicate, yet so strong. What a creative genius our God truly is! 🙂

If He could expand our universe at just the right speed to sustain life on our planet and for it not to collapse, to the 16th decimal point… I think He has Einstein beat! 😀

      2. melodylowes

        Indeed!! 🙂

This is quite wonderful, too! Maybe fragile and strong are 2 sides of a coin–and the beauty is in how the coin flips and spins?? Just pondering…

    1. melodylowes

Hmmm – an intriguing thought. When the coin is flipping, we feel at our most ‘messy’ perhaps – is THAT where the beauty is released? (forehead scrunched, pondering with you…)

      1. Caddo Veil

I’m so laughing at the 2 of us scrunching our foreheads and pondering this weight, so early in the day, and on a Sunday (day of Rest) no less!

      2. melodylowes

Rather a wrinkled pair, are we? *giggle*

      3. Caddo Veil

Which reminds me, Melody–on one of my recent poems, you asked how I got the “crinkled heart” aspect–I have no flat iron!!

      4. melodylowes

🙂 Shall I send you one via post?

      5. Caddo Veil

Oh no! Then I’d be “pressed” to use it!!

      6. melodylowes

        Groan… 🙂

  7. RoSy

I love how you can actually make out the snowflakes!

    1. melodylowes

I’m so glad you see them!! I have been mourning the fact that I don’t have a fancy camera set-up to catch the incredible details in this frost…
