What if  I had to be poured to learn I was empty? What if I had to be crushed to know I was cracked? What if I had to be dazzled to recognize blindness? What if I  had to meet lies to discern what was fact? What if I had to be stripped to know…

What if  I had to be poured

to learn I was empty?

What if I had to be crushed

to know I was cracked?

What if I had to be dazzled

to recognize blindness?

What if I  had to meet lies

to discern what was fact?

What if I had to be stripped

to know I was naked?

What if I had to hit bottom

to raise head from the sand?

What if I had to be nameless

to hear call’s refrain?

What if I had to chew garbage

to taste  good from Your hand?

Life’s trials tend to strip us down – and, once bare, we can be clothed again…

And the clothes will most likely be better than the original ones 🙂

      Hey – I like that! I like that a lot!! 🙂

We never fully know who we are without experiencing things that tell us the good in our lives; beautiful poem and questions.

Thanks Ivon! To fully know ones self – THAT must be a very alive way to live!

  3. Caddo Veil

WOW, packs a good punch, Melody. On the lighter side, do you have a dog? In my dream last night, you had a dog named “Dromedy”–and the 2 of you had discovered that blue popsicles don’t make you drool!! Too good not to share… from the Caddo dream vault.

Bahaha! I have 2 dogs – one old, one ‘new’. The new one definitely drools, but her name is Smudge. Your dream brain isn’t very intuitive, is it? 😀

      1. Caddo Veil

Hey, I woke up wondering what on earth had led to what I gave you!!

      2. melodylowes

🙂 My dreams often tend toward the bizarre – often incredibly detailed! Hmmm – what if we could jump into each other’s dream worlds, like the movie ‘Inception’?

      3. Caddo Veil

I’m unfamiliar with that movie, and not sure I’d want to be jumping into other people’s dreams–or having them join in mine: bizarre and detailed–mine too! Kind of like going through someone’s dresser drawers… But the dog and blue popsicle one was special, and G-rated! Oh, speaking of movies–have you seen “The Painted Veil”? It’s from 2006, I think–but I only watched it last night (cable). Interesting…kind of dreary, and a predictable ending–but “interesting”. It’s from a Somerset Maughm (sp?) story…

And – we WIN in the end! Such a glorious finale to the earthly struggle… Thanks Debbie!

This . .this is a classic, Melody. So good it needs to be put up somewhere .. like on a poster! God bless you!

    1. melodylowes

Thanks Debbie! It has taken a long time for me to even begin to ‘get’ this lesson – and I have much to go to really grasp its depth – but the process of being stripped down is finally looking more like blessing and glory than punishment – and for that, I am thankful!

Thanks! Have you ‘been there’ too, then? It seems that all of the ones who have walked through the fire and come out alive are the ones to relate to this one…
