Shattered

Shattered, skin begins to peel, Fractured, neurons fail to feel; Fragments blister, lose their grip, Smithereens abandon ship. Underneath, as  damage heals, skin is soft, and raw, and real; Tree lets go of what was dead to grow in grace and truth instead.

Shattered, skin begins to peel,

Fractured, neurons fail to feel;

Fragments blister, lose their grip,

Smithereens abandon ship.

Underneath, as  damage heals,

skin is soft, and raw, and real;

Tree lets go of what was dead

to grow in grace and truth instead.

    Letting go is hard 😦 … and only possible with the Healer 🙂

      Aw, Mushy – I was just thinking about you, and thinking back over the lessons of the past few weeks. How grateful I am for the things that are being stripped away – painful, yes. But what is coming through is better skin – there is hope for me yet! 🙂

    Pretty graphic images–and realistic. Have a blessed day–love, Caddo

      Thanks Caddo! I’m home today after a long day trip yesterday in treacherous road conditions – Whew!

        Yay! I’m thankful you got home safe–maybe you could put up your feet, eat bon bons and watch soap operas (cackling with laughter at the image)!

        Bon bons? Soap operas? Sheesh… 🙂 (How DID she know?)

    I believe that if we could see all things thru an eternal perspective, we would rejoice even in the demise of things, etc.

      I am just learning that lesson in my own life…

    Lovely photo and poem, Melody! I love the look of bark that peels and shows us what’s underneath… Sometimes we need to be ‘shattered’ so our ‘skin is soft, and raw, and real;’ I love this analogy! But I don’t enjoy its application. 😉

    Blessings ~ Wendy

      Hmmm – I know exactly what you mean! The lesson may be rough – but the glory in the end is incredible!

    I feel the beauty taking shape here!

      I do too! I know you have also lost – and are raw underneath. But it seems that this new flesh contains more compassion, more mindfulness, more character. Something new and beautiful…

      I doubt that very much. You probably look your glamorous self, as always! 😉
