You Say You’re Broken

You say you’re broken. Fallen. Damaged. You say you long for lofty places but you’re stuck here in the trenches. What if falling was the first step in rising? What if breaking set you free to evaporate and soar? What if your damage and misplacement and confusion were the aqua-duct to the world’s Water Cycle?…

fallen.jpg

You say you’re broken.

Fallen.

Damaged.

You say you long for lofty places

but you’re stuck here in the trenches.

What if falling

was the first step in rising?

What if breaking

set you free to evaporate and soar?

What if your damage

and misplacement

and confusion

were the aqua-duct

to the world’s Water Cycle?

You say you always dreamed of living on a rooftop –

what if you were meant

to join molecules on the moon?

Until you let go

of what you say,

can you be?

Hi Melody, this is so true! Uta

Thanks Uta! It is a hard lesson indeed, but so freeing to realize that in those broken places, we rise in strength! 🙂

It makes me think about how everything around us has been here … from the beginning … the water we see … here from the very first day … recycled … what a marvelous God … who thought of this and spoke all of it into being … amazing… thanks for sharing and making me think 🙂

Beautiful thoughts. I wrote a poem long ago about dinosaurs – can’t remember its title, but it explores the fact that the same rain falling today was recycled from so long ago. Such an amazingly complex system we live in – such a lot of fodder to challenge our small thinking and feed our imaginations!

Great photo! Okay, so my laptop is broken; is there a lesson in here for me? Let go of vexation. I am feeling utterly brainless or scramble brained using this borrowed laptop.

Isn’t that frustrating? We come to rely so utterly on a technology so utterly unreliable – hopefully yours is up and running soon!

    brilliant soar!

I’ve sure never looked at icicles quite like this before – it seems to me that they are exclamation points to some of the things I’ve been learning lately! Thanks, friend.

The picture with the poem is one of the best posts you have ever had. And that is saying a lot. God is really speaking through you, and this poem really says it all.

Wow. I am truly so honored and gratified to know that as I struggle, I am somehow hitting home to a lot of regular folks out there! Thanks so much…

Reblogged this on RePrEsSeD ExPrEsSiOnS and commented:
Melody has an amazing site, fabulous outdoor photography that is themed with thought provoking poems. This poem says it all….

Deep one, Melody . ..thank you for making us consider the possibilities right before us.

God has built in so many many object lessons on resilience and rising from the ashes that it CAN’T be co-incidence. I know that my heart is refreshed as I see what He can make beautiful, so I think perhaps others can also find hope and meaning in them… 🙂

Deep emotion tangles with “saturated” image, and unconsciousness flows… I would think the most joyful soaring through life usually started from the darkness trenches.

    1. melodylowes

It seems to be so, in what I have observed in my own life. Thank you for your comments, Yun Yi – they mean a lot to me.

The Lord always breaks us for a reason, If only we would let go and let Him do His work sooner than later.

    1. melodylowes

Absolutely – and so much easier said than done, right?

      1. godspoetbychoice

        right!
