Moment in the Sun

Caught in the midst of an endless cycle, she alternates between numb and inflamed, cool and intense. The roller coaster between Passion and Apathy makes for a very bumpy ride. Feeling stirs fear that she will lose control, drip into oblivion, find herself a puddle to be trifled with under hob-nailed boots. But turning a cold shoulder, selling herself…

Caught in the midst of an endless cycle,

she alternates between

numb and inflamed, cool and intense.

The roller coaster between

Passion and Apathy makes for a very bumpy ride.

Feeling stirs fear

that she will lose control, drip into oblivion,

find herself

a puddle to be trifled with under hob-nailed boots.

But turning a cold shoulder,

selling herself to indifference only leaves her stiff at the sidelines,

forgetting to inhale.

She tells herself that the next time the warmth comes,

she’ll let go completely;

at least if she melts, she’ll have her moment

in the sun…

I love the twist at the end of the poem. 🙂 Melody, great work with your steady hand on the camera – awesome photo!

You would have loved this one – it required a ladder for the most chicken-livered anti-heights lady in all of Christendom! 🙂

Melody, you make me smile. 🙂 I’ll remember this strategy in case we ever get any dangling dandies on our house.

I love your lessons and encouragement, poem style! At first, I was thinking with this part ” she alternates between . . .cool and intense” that you were talking about hot flashes. teehee!

😀 I guess that’s the power of personal interpretation! *giggle*

This is dimensional in interpretation ~ I believe every season is a soul-seasoning, each one necessary and, personally, i love the wintry slower pace. But, then again, I’m in California 🙂

You Californians can talk pretty big when it comes to winter, can’t you? 🙂 There is truth to hat you say, though – every season is building something new and beautiful into us, even the tough ones….

    Sounds like a drama queen…

Or a person struggling through recovery…a very confusing time! Torn between thawing and freezing, learning to feel and being wildly afraid to feel. There is hope in the melting!

Such talent when you can make ice feel warm 😉

🙂 I am so going to choose to think that you’re right on that one! I feel warmer already! 😀

The complication of spirit is painted in such a colorful image/words with a surprisingly encouraging end!

🙂 Thanks, Yun Yi! I am feeling so much more hope these days in my own heart, it is hard for it not to leak into my words!
