Butter on living toast,
you breakfast my morning
with breathless beauty,
food for thought and heart
.
to sate endless appetite
(heart hunger rarely needs
to loosen its belt); soul
growls, empty, and you,
.
in so temporary a skin,
exercise your right
to round my malnourished belly
with your dying gift.
.
Daylily blossoms only last for one day, as their name implies – yet how much their short-lived petals bless our world! What can YOU do today to feed someone’s spirit?
Incredible isn’t it? All that beauty and glory for a brief day and then gone!
It puts things into perspective, that’s for sure. We can also bloom, despite our fragility. I like that!
Yes, that is true. Even the fragile have their moment.
“Daylily blossoms only last for one day, as their name implies…”
Say what? I guess the name does say that. But – who knew? Not me.
Can I NOT wear the dunce cap? 😉
The teacher will try hard not to punish your ignorance too hard…. 😉 Aren’t there a lot of things to know??? Sheesh….
Thanks teach’ 😉
outstanding beauty !
Thanks Debbie!
Love this! 🙂
Thanks Shannon!
I showed up, how’s that? Ya know, I don’t think I could have daylilys in my yard–I picture myself getting anxious and depressed as the day slips away.
But the next day brings more and more – fresh as the proverbial daisy every morning!
Oh okay, I feel better now–can you tell I’m a bit slumpish today? I need to envision myself as a daylily!
New and fresh on the morrow…
“One the morrow”–so poetic…I may have to write a new poem after church–thanks!
