Unless you’re crushed, you cannot be poured,
Unless you’re struck, we can’t hear your chord;
Unless you’ve bled, you can’t feel my pain;
Unless you freeze, your colours are plain.

It is only after the frost that our world puts on a show.
Hang in there – your best is yet to come….
Beautiful Melody. I’m hanging in there, just like a kitty on the tree! The best is yet to come…
Absolutely! Get your claws dug in deep! Thanks, Diana…
Oh wow…this is poignant. And beautifully so. Great reminder that there’s purpose in pain. Thank you for sharing your gift with words.
Thanks, Patty! There IS purpose in pain – or there would be no cross and ultimately, no redemption. Wishing it were not so does nothing to dull the pain – and in fact, helps mute the glorious colours. (Been there, done that…)
your comments above remind me of one of my favorite books that I learned so much from Hannah Hunnard’s “Hinds Feet on High Places” – have you read it?
Only in bits – a classic, right? Great connection, Pam. Thank you!
What a message! I always click “like” because of the images and if I have time, I come back and read. So glad I read!! Melody, I need to share this with someone. It’s the perfect message for what they’re experiencing. It’s truly anointed.
Go ahead! I know I have been in that place, and can truly say that when God is running the show (and He is!) that all will work out for your friend’s GOOD…
Amen. 🙂
Ohhhh, this is SO WONDERFUL, Mel! I love the photo, beautiful–and I LOVE the message in the poem. It speaks very personally to me this week, so that I can rejoice in the difficult moments–HE IS GOOD. God bless you BIG–love, sis Caddo
It is Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend – and we have MUCH to be thankful for (even in those places that feel too OUCH to be thankful for)…
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mel–among the blessings I’ll be thankful for all season, I’m grateful to know YOU.
Aw, shucks, Ma’am. *blush and/or stammer*
The resulting colours are a beautiful reminder of the best and how it came to be.
A living, breathing, hands-on life lesson for all of us – if we will open our eyes to its magnificence! Thanks, Lyle..
Good to know there is better to come 🙂
Some days we need reminders, no?
Yes, yes and yes.
Absolutely great photograph
Thanks! The colours this time of year are eye candy for a photographer, that’s for sure!
This is a beautiful poem with such great truth.
