Afterward

cotoneaster brilliance

Unless you’re crushed, you cannot be poured,

Unless you’re struck, we can’t hear your chord;

Unless you’ve bled, you can’t feel my pain;

Unless you freeze, your colours are plain.

It is only after the frost that our world puts on a show.

Hang in there – your best is yet to come….

  1. Beautiful Melody. I’m hanging in there, just like a kitty on the tree! The best is yet to come…

  2. Oh wow…this is poignant. And beautifully so. Great reminder that there’s purpose in pain. Thank you for sharing your gift with words.

      Thanks, Patty! There IS purpose in pain – or there would be no cross and ultimately, no redemption. Wishing it were not so does nothing to dull the pain – and in fact, helps mute the glorious colours. (Been there, done that…)

    your comments above remind me of one of my favorite books that I learned so much from Hannah Hunnard’s “Hinds Feet on High Places” – have you read it?

  4. What a message! I always click “like” because of the images and if I have time, I come back and read. So glad I read!! Melody, I need to share this with someone. It’s the perfect message for what they’re experiencing. It’s truly anointed.
