Air so cold
it chatters
terrified
in pale lungs
sinks Arctic
anchors deep,
permafrost
of the soul,
robs senses
of the choice
to exhale –
prayer bursts its
irons, breath
warmed by hope,
cold’s power
vaporized.
Air so cold it chatters terrified in pale lungs sinks Arctic anchors deep, permafrost of the soul, robs senses of the choice to exhale – prayer bursts its irons, breath warmed by hope, cold’s power vaporized.

What happened to the LIKE button??
H mmm – I didn’t realize it went away. I’ll look into it…
You removed the like button.
I like this poem though
Oh, Oh – didn’t mean to! Thanks for the heads-up…
“cold’s power vaporized” Oh, I hope so — I really do. The sooner the better!
So are you saying we should pray for warmer weather? Mind you, that’s a pretty safe prayer if we don’t mind waiting for our answer. 🙂
We attended a funeral at Warman yesterday and they actually had the interment after the service. Must have been hard digging a grave at -25 C.
Interments are distressing enough without the added hardship of deep cold… 😦 I was actually thinking of this piece as being not a literal cold, but a figurative one – and we’ve all been to chilly places in that sense, I know…
Like. 🙂
I hear there’s no ‘like’ button for this post somehow. Thanks for sending your like anyway! 🙂
yes!
🙂 Thanks Pam.
A perfect description.
And – oh boy – I feel it!
Remember to breathe! 😉
Thank you for these figurative poems and the hope http prayer brings!
Maybe if prayer had a website address it would be more popular! hehe
That was such a great response to my typo! Haha
Oops. The hope that prayer brings, it should say!
🙂
I can LIKE it on the Reader, but not on your blog…
I have no idea why. I don’t know how much patience I will have for ‘tinkering’ tonight…
No biggie–just thought you might like to know (not being picky, as that would exhaust me…).
Yes, thanks – I do like knowing those kinds of things.
More than like! 🙂
🙂 Thanks Shannon!
What is so deadly cold can be so so beautify!
Isn’t that the truth? I think the extra added beauty is God’s way of compensating us for the harsh weather! 😉
Like, like…
🙂 No idea why the like button disappeared for this one. No patience to go on a hunt, either !
It’s probably WordPress shenanigans.
Now I am picturing a room full of young men in argyle sweaters giggling as they dare each other to new antic greatness…. 😉
Yes, and I am not sure if it is me, being silly, or more WP shenanigans but I am having trouble loading photos in my comments section now. Failing completely.
Blame the argyle sweaters…Shenanigans. Definitely shenanigans.
I’d rather do that than blame my brain 😉
Melody, wonderful picture and poem! I really love both of them! Blessings!
Thanks Wendell!
THAT’S exactly what it’s like! You can shut that chatter and back & rolling gossip with one warm breath from within ! It’s warm here for most of the country, and Canada but, I still have my warm wooly blankie and shawl! Wonderful writing ~I promise I can write on a frosty window reading your vivid words! xo
You are so sweet. I think prayer is very like this – the fears roll in and we suck in and forget to breathe…
Like.
Thanks Jim!
