I was walking in this kind of snow and sun the other day and was pondering how to say what you just penned … you took the thoughts out of my mind and put them into beautiful words … I think I might have to print this out and keep them in my winter coat 🙂 LOVE IT!!!! Thanks, Mel!
🙂 Thanks, Heidi! I’m borrowing my daughter’s words. When she was wee little, she pointed at that sparkly snow. “We’re rich, Mommy!” I will never forget that little burst of wisdom, so simple and so profound. Every time I see those diamonds, I remember that I am indeed rich!
It takes courage and determination to see the beauty in the difficult places. I know that you have learned the trick of finding what is good in the midst of soul’s winter places, and are now able to pass that beauty on to the rest of us.
Have you ever read “The Wisdom of the Desert Fathers?” It is full of perfect little nuggets just like this.
No, I haven’t! It sounds like a good read… Thanks, Rob!
I think it should be required reading of every thirsty seeker. You’d love it. It would provide no end of tasty inspiration for poetry as well.

she is a smart cookie 🙂
Indeed! (She must take after her… father?) 😉
🙂
How rich indeed. Children often see so much more clearly than we do.
Hallelujah–more truth that poetry here, Mel!
We must choose, always choose, to see the diamonds…. Thanks, M!
Beautiful…
Thanks Rosy!
I can see the diamonds in the snow so easily … the other places not so easily.
*sigh* I’m with you, Lyle. I think it takes practice, like everything else. And time…
Life’s coldest path really is “sprinkled with diamonds.” I like that thought, Melody!
