Great insight expressed! It’s so true! (And we ought to know hereabouts, with all the storms we’ve been having this summer. 🙂 )

Thanks Christine! Are you a little windblown tonight? My poor delphiniums…. 😦

      1. Christine Goodnough

We had it yesterday and this afternoon.

Indeed! The rose has come through unscathed, however. We are not usually so lucky. We bloom but not so perfectly.

And some of our petals hang a little sideways, and some get blown right off. But you know – I have learned from looking at the flowers that get hailed and otherwise damaged – that our ideas of perfection and what we should or shouldn’t look like or do are highly overrated. I think maybe, just maybe, the point is not to wait until we can bloom perfectly – but just to bloom! Imperfections and all! I have a feeling that if I were to really, REALLY believe that to my toes, my life would look a lot different…

      1. Gallivanta

Oh please, please, do believe that to your toes! If we wait until we are perfect we won’t be seen, ever.

      2. melodylowes

I’m getting there! I think I believe down to my knees. Calves, on a good day. ;P

        😀

I’m usually a fan of ironies but this one leaves me hoping for a better way. But it’s not going to happen.

I so understand that. *sigh* I can wish all I like, and it still leaves me knowing that climbing uphill is better for my muscle development than level pavement. I guess we don’t have to like it to know it as truth. One day it will all make sense. Until then – uphill we go!

    Melody! Indeed!

    Great words!

    1. melodylowes

Aw, thanks, Sissy. I hope you are enjoying your summer!

  5. Skye

    Amen, Melody! 🙂

    1. melodylowes

      So bloom away! Thanks Skye!

  6. Tiny

That is a great insight and so true. Just difficult to remember the blooming part sometimes.

    1. melodylowes

Isn’t it? It feels so counter-intuitive. So hard. But true nonetheless!

  7. Jean-Paul

    very nice flower 🙂

    1. melodylowes

Merci, Jean-Paul! Roses are one of my favourites!

Thanks Lauren! I have been spending many happy hours in my garden lately. I am sure I will have lots to enjoy in the days ahead! 😉

      3. marriedmybestfriend

Yeah! To listen to the ‘Melody’ again… Been away awhile. It’s great to read your posts, after such a time!

      4. melodylowes

I have been away too. Life seems to get in the way of having fun, somehow… Glad you are back!

  9. Glenda Mills

Melody, there is so much truth and beauty in this an your other posts. I am finally catching up on your site. It’s been a crazy year of travel and joy of a new grand- daughter from China, and contrast os sorrow with 2 deaths in our family.
    Bless you!

    1. melodylowes

Oh, my! Life certainly has a way of throwing things at us , whether we are ready for them or not. I am sorry that you have had such an upheaval lately! You must be enjoying your new little one, though! Enjoy your weekend, Glenda!
